I use Twitter for the laughs, but it also brings a funny sort of clarity to complicated emotions.

Napkin note:
Politeness is mostly people telling sweet lies to maintain distance. But in keeping ourselves from being rude, we also keep others from being kind.

 

Napkin note:
We bring different versions of ourself to each app we open up. To transfer the hidden, free-to-be-vulnerable self you use in the Notes app over to the Messenger app… that’s a decision to expose (or unleash) the rawest version of how you feel.

 

Napkin note:
We focus a lot on the similarities within age groups, but the distances between same-aged peers can be just as relatable and creatively interesting.

We associate basic learning with youth. So when adults realize something that (afterward) feels basic, we tend to over-estimate how long we've actually known that thing.

 

Napkin note:
In a subconscious (or conscious) effort to prove their inclusiveness, White people often confuse friendliness and fascination. (“Oh my God, Bre, your hair! LOVE.”) Friendliness is fine. Fascination is off-putting.

 

Napkin note:
You never want to be the person who uses “ah fuck” when it is indeed an “oh fuck” situation.

 

Napkin note:
Some things are better left ambiguous.
